For we do not preach
ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as
your servants for
Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of
darkness,"
made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of
the knowledge of the glory
of God in the face of Christ. But we have
this treasure in jars of clay to show that
this all-surpassing power is
from God and not from us. 2 Corinthians 4:5-7
This ministry is not about us ... it is all about Jesus. We do not want
any credit or praise. It all belongs
to Jesus. We want only to clearly proclaim Biblical truth and provide
ministry that will reveal Jesus.
The treasure is, of course, the personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus
offers release from guilt,
forgiveness for sin, power to endure life, and eternal life. This treasure
is far more valuable than
we can ever imagine. We cannot think of keeping these riches to
ourselves. Jesus paid dearly
to offer this treasure.
I remember when I discovered my need for
Jesus. I had grown up in church, but my life lacked
purpose and direction. I had an emptiness that refused to filled through
good deeds or philosophies.
In my spiritual darkness, my sin and guilt were too great to bear, even though I
was a moral person.
I cried out to God to help me and forgive me. When the Light of Jesus came
into my life, I became
a changed person. I now enjoy a personal walk with Jesus who has given me
a purpose to live:
to please God!
Further this key teaching reminds us that the treasure is given to glorify
God. Our earnest intent is
to do simply that: to help others experience the fullness of Christ and glorify
God.
We understand our limitations. We bring nothing special to this
ministry in terms of abilities or talents.
However, our desire is to follow the Lord and remain obediently faithful.
We trust Him to display His
power and wisdom.
